Sherry Chambers

About a loving wife, mommy, and grandmom. If I was to describe Sherry Chambers in just a few words, I would say strong, loyal and dependable. A woman, who at sixteen lost her first born, overcame adversity to have three more beautiful children whom she raised to the best of her God knowing ability. If there was anyone who could define tough times, it was Sherry. Never once did she let those times neither affect nor disrupt the raising of her children. Sherry actually instilled in her children that no time is too tough to make it. There has never been a moment when Sherry was not a mother, wife and friend. All three of Sherry’s children looked to her above anyone else for strength and understanding. Sherry did not have the word “No” in her vocabulary. When it came to her family, as her kids got older, she wanted nothing more than to have grandkids. When Krisslyn, Benjamine, Ashlynn, Ryann and Kira were around, Sherry’s face would light up with new youth, with a new purpose. When it came to her kids and grandkids, Sherry was happy just to see them happy. She could sit in a room perfectly content just watching the kids, whether they were playing games or watching television. Sherry always put her family before herself, and in doing so, it made her happy. Just about as happy as the day she met her husband Derrick Sr. at the age of eleven. From the day Sherry could leave her little neighborhood of Kennsington in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, she and Derrick were inseparable. They shared a bond that is nearly unheard of. Everything the two of them experienced, they experienced it together. From the simple things, such as a new flavor of ice cream, to changing diapers and being parents. They were known to make each other laugh without speaking. They traveled the country from North to South and East to West with one thing in mind; to experience life together. They literally were always together. When you spoke of one, you actually spoke of the other (Derrick and Sherry, Sherry and Derrick). The love and admiration that they shared is downright remarkable. As long as they had each other, they needed none other. In closing, it should be known that Sherry Lynn Chambers was and always will be loved and missed truly by her kids, grandkids, friends and family; and most importantly, her lover and best friend, Derrick Chambers Sr. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2013 from 1-3pm at Allen Funeral Home, 1130 S. Horne, Mesa, AZ 85204.
